TOPIC: THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF GOD'S FAVOUR

TEXT: ISAIAH 61: 1-2 NLT

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that THE TIME OF OF THE LORD'S FAVOUR HAS COME, and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies. (Isaiah 61:1-2 Emphasis mine).

From verse two of our theme text, it appears clearly to me that God's comforting response to those who mourn (for whatever reason) is FAVOUR. 

"...to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord's favour has come."

Therefore to those who mourn (as a result of one need or the other), as the Lord has said through His servants, THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF GOD'S FAVOUR HAS COME! HALLELUYAH!

Now is the time of the Lord's Favour and we must be set to engage all that this Favour can deliver. Favour speaks of the following:

1. ACCESS TO UNCOMMON PLACES AND PEOPLE: 

The most prestigious place is the Throne of God and the most important Person is God. 

However, according to the Scripture, where God dwells is in the light which NO MAN can approach. Nonetheless, the man Moses enjoyed the favor of unrestricted access to God's presence where God spoke to Him mouth to mouth

With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold.. (Num 12:8) 

God also showed him what no mortal man could have known. God showed him His back and he saw God's  "back deed" of creation!

"If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.” Exodus 33:13(NLT)

"And the Lord replied to Moses, "I will indeed do what you have asked, for you have found favor with me, and you are my friend" (Exodus 33:17 NLT)

Now if FAVOUR could give Moses ACCESS to the most important Place and Person, FAVOUR CAN GIVE YOU ACCESS TO UNCOMMON PLACES AND PEOPLE!  

Esther also had access to all she needed for preparation besides her allowance because she obtained favor from Hegai (Esther 2:8-9).

Would you also like to be so favoured as to speak with the Lord face to face with access to the Uncommon? Place a demand for this dimension of favour in this acceptable year of God's favour?
